Guadalajara were held to a goalless draw in a league match away against Queretaro last weekend, despite dominating possession and having more shots on target. It was another disappointing showing for Guadalajara, who have now slipped to eighth place in the table, just inside of the qualification zone. The club have collected a total of 15 points from four wins, three draws and three losses in the league. A playoff spot looks likely, but the team will have to remain composed and focused to make that aim a reality.

CF America claimed a 1-0 home league win over Puebla last weekend thanks to a late winner from Francisco Sebastian Cordova. The hosts dominated the run of play from the outset but were unable to find the target until Cordova’s close-range strike in the 88th minute. With the win, Miguel Herrera’s side climbed to fifth place in the league table. Although they have occasionally produced flashes of the brilliance that defined their Apertura campaign last year, they will have to do more if they are to replicate that success and secure the victory this season.

The defending champions will enter this league match against Guadalajara as the clear favourites. Their fluid, attacking style should be enough to overwhelm the hosts, who have not won any of their past three league matches (one draw, two losses). Guadalajara lost 2-0 away against CF America when they played in the cup in midweek, but regardless of that result an away win should be on the cards in this league outing.

CF America have scored exactly twice in three of their four away league matches, whereas Guadalajara have scored an average of one goal in their past four home games in the league. Given those facts, a 2-1 away win seems a probable outcome.

Both teams are evenly matched over their past four league encounters, with one home win each and two draws. CF America drew 1-1 against Guadalajara when the teams last played in the league in October.
