Lyon: Loss of points against Lille ( Recent Form: D W W D D )

In order to keep second place, Olympique Lyonnais had to win the third round, Lille, but the team did not succeed after a dramatic first half. Already within thirty minutes Bruno Génésio's team was trailing 2-0 and that score was also the halftime. Shortly after the break, Memphis Depay wasted a perfect opportunity to get his team back in the game by shooting a penalty, but the basically returned Bertrand Traoré gave his team a 2-2 draw with a goal and an assist. The big man at Les Gones in the last weeks is Memphis Depay who were involved in eight of the last nine goals by scoring twice and giving six assists, including no less than three on Maxwel Cornet who scored both goals in the 2- 2 draw against Manchester City. Also against Lille the Dutchman was the pivot in the game of his team, but this time he remained in the shadow of his teammate from Burkina Faso. Traoré and Depay both scored five times this season, but with five assists, the Dutchman is still a lot more decisive for his team.

Rennes: From lead to ample defeat ( Recent Form: L D D W L )

In his own home Stade Rennais led by Ismaïla Sarr to RC Strasbourg within ten minutes, but then went wrong for the Sabri Lamouchi team. After a little more than half an hour of play, Stade Rennais was trailing 1-2, and at the time of the last whistle, RC Strasbourg had even walked to 4-1. Because of the biggest defeat of this season, Les Rouges et Noirs, the team that finished fifth last season has gone down to a disappointing fourteenth place. As a result of the 4-1 defeat at Roazhon Park, it was announced on Monday that Sabri Lamouchi took his bags. Lamouchi was appointed over a year ago as successor to Christian Gourcuff and managed to lead the team in fifth place in France in its first season. This season it all goes a lot less, although the team still has qualifying for the sixteenth finals of the Europa League, which means that his employment ends after just over a year. With only one victory in his last five games at the helm, the team that only won four times this season in competition was working on a dramatic series, especially in the defensive field.

After all, despite the disappointing draw of last weekend against Lille, Olympique Lyonnais is clearly the favorite for this match. The team of Génésio scores on the production line and won five of the eight games played at home, while Stade Rennais only won one victory from the last five matches and only won twice in away games.
