Manchester City: Must win Chelsea ( Recent Form: W W L W W )

At Manchester City, they had played one more game than Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur prior to this weekend, two teams that have played their duels before The Citizens take action against Chelsea. That means that Manchester City continues to be the leader of the Premier League when the squad with Chelsea is won and a Man City in this form must take a three point against Chelsea at Etihad Stadium. Last weekend, The Citizens showed against Arsenal (3-1 victory) that they do not really have to be scared of virtually any team in the Premier League. Only Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and perhaps Manchester United - given the derby feeling - seem to make this Manchester City really difficult. Perhaps Chelsea can be added to that list after this weekend, but The Citizens are the big favorite ahead of the game with The Blues. Manchester City played another Premier League game after the game with Arsenal. The game was scheduled for Wednesday-evening, as Everton was the opponent of The Citizens at Goodison Park. Pep Guardiola's formation won 0-2 against Everton by goals from Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus, but it was not easy. Moreover, the goals only came about in the extra time of both halves, but at Manchester City they obviously got grind. The Citizens is the three points and they were caught. In contrast to, for example, a Chelsea, Manchester City will have no European obligations in the coming week and that will ensure that Pep and his strongest team will start when Chelsea comes to visit Manchester.

Chelsea: Too changeable ( Recent Form: L W W L W )

Just like for Manchester City, Chelsea also has a huge stake this weekend: The Blues have to win at the Etihad Stadium if they want to qualify for the Champions League. Manchester United and Arsenal were already in action on Saturday-afternoon, but if Chelsea takes three points against Manchester City a day later, The Blues will be secured fourth again for a few days. The difference in points between Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea has been minimal in recent weeks and Chelsea can not afford to defeat the national champion. However, Maurizio Sarri will also realize that his Chelsea is not yet as far away as Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. Those three clubs really stand out in football in the Premier League, while Chelsea is more of a team. The fact that The Blues can play football very well is beyond dispute. Chelsea won 5-0 against Huddersfield Town in the previous round. Against The Terriers, Gonzalo Higuaín made his first two goals in the blue shirt and it is hoped Chelsea that they now have the desired striker in the selection with the Argentinian. After the departure of Diego Costa, The Blues struggles with a striker's problem and in the first half of this season it became clear that both Álvaro Morata and Oliver Giroud did not have enough quality to be the regular striker of Chelsea. Giroud is a great pinchhitter, but too often too changeable if he really gets the preference in the basic team. For the time being, the Frenchman has to do it with incursions, because Higuaín is the first striker at The Blues until the end of the season. The problem with the Argentine attacker, however, is that you sometimes do not see him for ninety minutes, as during his Premier League-debut when Chelsea lost 4-0 to Bournemouth. He is, just like the whole of Chelsea, too changeable and the only exception to the rule is Eden Hazard, which does get a good level every week.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

After all, earlier this season, Chelsea won 2-0 vs. Manchester City in the league, but I fear the worst Sunday night for The Blues. Manchester City is the last duels in shape and that was also against Arsenal, which is comparable to Chelsea. In the last four matches between these teams, fewer than three goals fell, but I expect some spectacle this weekend. Both City and Chelsea want to play football, which is why I think that over 2.75 goals are very playable.
