MATCH PREDICTION

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Second-placed Melbourne Victory have won four and drawn one of their past five league matches to keep the pressure on Perth Glory at the top of the table. However, Victory aren’t perfect at home, managing five wins, two draws and two losses, one of which was a 3-2 defeat to Perth Glory early in the campaign. The team beat rock-bottom Central Coast Mariners 3-2 away in the last round, but were 2-0 down at half time.

Top-of-the-table Perth Glory have won their past two league matches and are unbeaten across their past eight league fixtures with six wins and two draws. Some expected them to slide after their bright early start but they have remained strong, beating Wellington Phoenix 3-0 in their most recent league outing. Away from home, they have been good too, being unbeaten in seven trips with five wins and two draws in league action.

I’m split on this league fixture but if Keisuke Honda plays, Melbourne Victory will be too strong. I'm siding with the home side.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH

These two clubs are the highest scoring sides this season. Melbourne Victory have netted 39 goals from 17 league matches while Perth Glory have managed 36 strikes. Their last league meeting ended up 3-2 and both sides have found scoring form in the past fortnight, with Victory netting 15 in their last five league matches alone and Glory five in their last two. I’m expecting plenty of total goals in this one.

HEAD TO HEAD

Perth Glory have won their past two league encounters but Melbourne Victory were triumph in the three league meetings before that.
