Preston could be without Louis Moult, Callum Robinson, Brad Potts and Thomas Barkhuizen while Josh Harrop and Billy Bodin are out for the season.

Maxime Colin is sidelined until late March with a hamstring issue whereas Charlie Lakin remains a doubt for Birmingham.

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Louis Moult, Callum Robinson (both hamstring); Brad Potts, Thomas Barkhuizen (both knocks)

Injured/unavailable: Josh Harrop, Billy Bodin (both cruciate ligament)

Preston are one of the form teams in the English second division, winning seven, drawing three and losing none of their past ten league matches. At Middlesbrough in midweek, North End won 2-1. Despite their good form, they have picked up just one win at Deepdale since mid-December, drawing five and winning only one of their last six league matches on their own patch. The Lilywhites are two points adrift of the top six.

Birmingham lost 2-0 against struggling Millwall at St Andrew’s in midweek. Meanwhile, City had won at QPR (4-3) and at Bristol City (2-1) before losing 2-0 to Hull City at the KCOM Stadium in their last league fixture on the road. The Midlands club have won six, drawn six and lost six league matches on their travels this season.

Even though in-form Preston have struggled for wins at home of late, I’m predicting North End to get the better of Garry Monk’s inconsistent Birmingham this weekend. Back the home win.

Preston have been leading at half time in three of their last four league games. Put some money on the home team to be winning at the break this weekend.

Birmingham eased to a 3-0 win over Preston at St Andrew’s in the reverse league match in December, which was their first victory against the Lilywhites in ten attempts in league action. They have lost five and drawn four times during that time.
