River Plate striker Ignacio Scocco could be available after missing several league games due to a muscle problem. Midfielder Enzo Perez has overcome a similar injury. Right back Gonzalo Montiel is doubtful with an ankle sprain.

Racing Club playmaker Federico Matias Zaracho had to be substituted against Huracan due to a shoulder problem. Guillermo Fernandez, who replaced him, was given his fifth yellow card and is now suspended.

River Plate

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Gonzalo Montiel (ankle), Ignacio Scocco (muscle)

Injured/unavailable: Julian Alvarez, Santiago Sosa (both international duty)

Racing Club

Suspended: Guillermo Fernandez

Doubtful: Federico Zaracho (shoulder)

Injured/unavailable: Lucas Orban (knee); Gaston Gomez, Mauricio Martinez (both knee ligament); Julian Alejo Lopez (international duty)

River Plate’s slump after their big title success in the Copa Libertadores seems to be over. They registered their second consecutive win in league action last weekend by beating Velez Sarsfield, who hadn’t lost at home previously, 2-1 away. They have now climbed into seventh spot with 25 points and one league game in hand. Prior to that positive run of back-to-back victories, River Plate had lost three consecutive home league games in eight days.

There is no stopping Racing Club as the club continue to march towards the title. The team beat Huracan 3-1 at home last time out and are now unbeaten in their last eight league games, winning seven and drawing one. After four straight triumphs, they remain at the top of the standings with 42 points, three above second-placed Defensa y Justicia. Away from home, they have suffered only one defeat and clinched six victories in their last seven league games, including the last three.

Racing Club are clearly the best side in the league at the moment, but River Plate are improving and have proven to be a dangerous side, too. I'm going with a draw.

River Plate have scored an average of two goals in their last four league matches while Racing Club have netted an average of 2.5 in their last four. I expect a high-scoring league clash.

Both sides won their away league fixture last season.
