MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Cambuur booked a poor result in round 23 as they lost 2-1 to last-placed Jong AZ Alkmaar, a result which allowed the youngsters to jump into 17th place while Cambuur have slid into 11th. They are now trailing fifth placed Jong PSV Eindhoven by seven points while a win here could catapult them as high as seventh, if results elsewhere go their way too. Cambuur were already 2-0 behind at half time last time out after conceding goals in both the fourth and 45th minute. Kevin van Kippersluis converted a penalty in stoppage time in the second half, but it was too little too late. Cambuur have now both scored and conceded 31 league goals.

NEC Nijmegen have finally booked a good result. They are still in a dreadful 15th place, but their 4-1 home victory over Jong Utrecht last time out marked their third league game without a loss, having won once and drawn twice. The team had lost five and won only one of six league matches previously. Jong Utrecht was no match for the Nijmegen squad. Their main man was Ferdie Druijf who scored in the 15th, 27th and 43rd minute. Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye was responsible for NEC Nijmegen's fourth goal in the 23rd minute.

Cambuur’s home record has taken a dent lately. They have failed to win their past five league matches at home, drawing three and losing two. NEC Nijmegen's away league record has been woeful. They did finally draw with Oss in their last away league outing, but had lost five in a row beforehand. Nevertheless, they have a good recent record against Cambuur as their latest league defeat dates back to 2015. I think a draw is on the cards.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – LOW

NEC Nijmegen's last four draws in league action have ended 1-1 while four of Cambuur's last five league draws have featured two or fewer total goals. A low-scoring league match is expected.

HEAD TO HEAD

NEC Nijmegen have won two and drawn two of their last four league meetings with Cambuur. Both draws took place in their two most recent league encounters.
