MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Paul Cook’s Wigan have been in dreadful form over the past few months, losing ten of their last 15 league encounters (two wins, three draws) to slip down to 20th. Wigan were strong at home in the early months of the season, but the club have now lost their last three league games at the DW Stadium without scoring a single goal. The Latics were also beaten in their latest league outing when falling to a 3-0 defeat at home against Sheff Utd, followed by a 1-0 loss at West Bromwich in the third round of the FA Cup last week.

Aston Villa, who were also eliminated in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend following a 3-0 defeat at home against Swansea, have drawn their last two league encounters. In fact, the Villans have won just one of their past seven league and cup games, drawing four and losing two. Villa have not won at home in the league since late November, but they have won three and drawn two of their previous five away league matches.

Wigan have dropped down the table at an alarming rate of knots in recent months, and Aston Villa should leave the DW Stadium with an important three points here.

SECOND PREDICTION: ODD/EVEN – ODD

Odd total goals have been scored in Aston Villa’s last three away wins. Back there to be odd total goals in this.

HEAD TO HEAD

Since a 2-2 draw back in the English top flight in May 2013, Aston Villa have won their last three league meetings against Wigan.
